What is a mobile air compressor and what is it used for

A mobile air compressor is an independent unit that compresses air and supplies it to pneumatic tools, equipment, or technological processes. Unlike stationary compressors, it can be easily transported to the work site — by towing it behind a vehicle or loading it onto a platform.
Bobcat offers a total of three categories of mobile compressors:

  • Small compressors (2 to 7 m³/min) — for light construction tools, pneumatic hammers, optical cable blowing
  • Medium compressors (7 to 12.7 m³/min) — for abrasive blasting, large construction sites, combined applications
  • Large compressors (14 to 30 m³/min) — for deep drilling, geothermal applications, air transfer for multiple devices simultaneously

All Bobcat models meet Stage V emission standards, are equipped with Kubota, Yanmar, or Cummins engines, and can withstand operation in temperatures from -10 to +46 degrees Celsius.

Where and when is renting air compressors worthwhile

Our Offer — Three Categories of Bobcat Compressors

We offer 2 units from each category. We will select the compressors to match your task — based on flow rate, pressure, application, and operating time.

SMALL AIR COMPRESSORS — 2 to 5 m³/min

The small category covers a wide range of construction and service applications. Compressors are equipped with Kubota or Yanmar engines, meet Stage V, and can operate for up to 8 hours on a single tank. Available in lightweight polymer and classic steel canopy options.

Main Advantages of the Small Category

  • Weight from 430 kg — the lightest version in the entire range, up to 735 kg with aftercoolers and lubricators
  • Fuel tank 26 to 58 liters; autonomous operation for a minimum of 8 hours at 50% load
  • Up to 70% common parts across the entire range — cheaper repairs, fewer spare parts in stock
  • 24-month / 2,000-hour warranty on the entire machine + 60-month / 10,000-hour warranty on the air end
  • Optional accessories: 6 or 8.5 kVA generator, hose reel, aftercooler, ECOmizer

PA12.7V Specialty — FlexAir System

The PA12.7V model is equipped with the patented FlexAir system with variable flow and pressure. This means that one machine can handle various applications without changing equipment — just press a button to set a new mode (5.5 to 12.1 bar, 5.2 to 7.0 m³/min). The PA12.7V compressor also comes standard with a polymer canopy that opens 90 degrees for convenient servicing.

MEDIUM AIR COMPRESSORS — 10.6 to 12.7 m³/min

The medium category includes two models — PA14.12V and PA10.12V — both powered by a powerful Cummins F3.8 4-cylinder diesel engine. They are designed for more demanding construction, abrasive blasting, and cable blowing on larger projects.

Main Advantages of the Medium Category

  • Dual Mode: ability to switch between high pressure with low flow and high flow with low pressure — two applications with one machine
  • 238-liter fuel tank + 19 liters of AdBlue — long autonomous operation on large construction sites
  • Spill containment trays — full 110% fluid retention integrated into the frame as standard
  • Optional ECOmizer — fuel savings on demand

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What size compressor do I need?

The two key pieces of information are: required airflow (m³/min) and operating pressure (bar). One pneumatic hammer consumes approximately 0.5–1.5 m³/min at 7 bar; a sandblasting machine up to 8–12 m³/min. If you don’t know, tell us what tools you will be using, and we will recommend a model.

Yes — for the small category (PA7.3 to PA14.3), an optional 6 kVA (230/400 V) or 8.5 kVA (110 V) generator is available. For medium and large models, external generators from our range can be used.

The small category has a 26-liter tank (PA7.2) or 58-liter tank (PA7.3–PA14.3), which, with a consumption of 1.5–3 liters/hour, ensures 8–12 hours of continuous operation. The medium category has a 238-liter tank; the large category up to 485 liters. Availability for at least a full workday is standard for all models.

Small category: 97–98 dB(A) at 7 meters. Medium and large categories: 99–100 dB(A). This corresponds to the noise level of a drum machine at 7 meters — within normal construction noise. All models are fully compliant with Noise Directive 2000/14/EC (2006).

The small category is on a wheeled chassis (towed behind a vehicle). Moving it during operation (while running) is not recommended. After shutdown and stabilization, relocation is easy. Large models come with a wheeled chassis, permanent skid, or skids for vehicle loading.

We can arrange transport and commissioning as part of the service. Specific conditions will be clarified in the price offer based on location and project scope.

Yes — 24/7 delivery throughout Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and other EU countries.

Our compressors are regularly serviced before each deployment. In case of an unplanned malfunction, we respond promptly — diagnosis, on-site repair, or equipment replacement. Our priority is to minimize any downtime.
